WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES

By the end of this session, participants will:

E

Normalize their experience of loneliness

Understand that winter loneliness is a common and expected response to migration, loss, and environmental change — not a personal weakness.

E

Develop psychoeducation about loneliness and the nervous system

Learn how loneliness is connected to stress, trauma, and seasonal changes in the body and brain.

E

Differentiate isolation from emotional loneliness

Gain clarity on why someone can feel lonely even when surrounded by people, especially in a new culture.

E

Increase self-compassion and reduce self-blame

Shift from “Something is wrong with me” to “My system is adapting to a new season and environment.”

E

Identify small, realistic ways to rebuild connection during winter

Explore gentle, culturally respectful ways to reconnect without pressure or overwhelm.

E

Feel seen, validated, and less alone

Experience safe reflection and shared understanding within the group.
